CNA Dorothy Wylie Health Leaders is a leading healthcare leadership development organization. The Association is bringing the CNA Dorothy Wylie Health Leaders to Manitoba for its debut in the province. The one-day Leadership Skills for Complex Times workshop focuses on practices and approaches to develop leadership skills for challenging times and changing environments and is open to all healthcare professionals.

Program Leaders

Julia Scott

Julia Scott is a registered nurse with an MBA, and a founder/facilitator of the Dorothy Wylie Health Leaders Institute. In addition to her extensive operational experience within acute care she has worked as a management consultant for a variety of organizations and sectors across Canada. Most recently she has held the position of Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive at two Ontario community hospitals where she led numerous successful clinical redesign initiatives. Julia is a skilled facilitator, passionate about person centred care and in supporting nurses to demonstrate their impact on outcomes. She is currently consulting to a variety of hospitals and associations including the Canadian Nurses Association.

Bev Simpson

Bev Simpson is a masters-prepared nurse, a certified management consultant and leadership coach, specializing in people, teams and systems development. Bev has broad experience in staff, management, education and project leadership roles in education and healthcare agencies, she has developed in-depth expertise in advancing professional practice, creating successful change initiatives, building strong teams and executing innovative solutions in complex environments. She works with health care agencies seeking solutions to complex practice and organizational issues, and has a wide-ranging network of collegial relationships that sustain her practice and her learning. She is a certified master facilitator and coach with The Leadership Challenge (Wiley) and has coached and mentored dozens of health care leaders across a spectrum of roles.

Lisa Ashley

Lisa Ashley is a Senior Nurse Advisor at the Canadian Nurses Association. Her work at CNA includes advocating for healthy public policy that optimizes the role of the registered nurse.  Lisa is also the Chair of the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada (CDPAC). 
As a longstanding registered nurse Lisa has worked in leadership positions as a home health and public health professional at the local, provincial and national levels to address health promotion activities, disease prevention and management. She has extensive experience in healthy public policy, program development, corporate funding, organizational planning, financial and information management, mentoring nursing students, and stakeholder engagement through positions at the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), on Board of Directors for provincial and national organizations, and Ottawa Public Health.

Lisa is an Academic Consultant Level 2 for the School of Nursing at the University of Ottawa. She has published on a variety of topics in national and international peer-reviewed and other journals. In addition to a BScN in community health from Ryerson University and a Master in Education from the University of Ottawa, Lisa has certification in Multiple Intervention Programming, Health Management, and is CNA certified in Community Health Nursing.
