Message from executive director Dr. Cheryl Cusack: Wishing you well during this holiday season
On behalf of the board and staff of the Association, I want to wish you well during this holiday season and recognize the amazing efforts of nurses and healthcare workers during this pandemic. This will be a year that will go down in history and always be remembered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID has raised the profile of nurses as the backbone of the healthcare system and provided countless examples of how nurses have modelled leadership in this time of crisis.
You are all demonstrating excellence and we want you to know that it is seen. You may be taking on new roles and learning very quickly and you are giving 100% every single shift. We see that you are going above and beyond what you ever expected to be asked. You are showing flexibility and adaptability under constantly changing and challenging circumstances.
I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every person who has worked extra hard, at the same time managing personal and family stressors associated with COVID. We would like to also express condolences and acknowledge that many have suffered the loss of family, friends, patients, and clients. While this holiday season will be very different, we hope that you will take time to focus on your personal mental health and activities that bring you joy. At the Association, we are here and will continue to be here for nursing. We will get through this together.
