Happy National Nursing Week

National Nursing Week is Monday, May 6, to Sunday, May 12, 2019.

The Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (Association) and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) will use the theme Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health for All this year for national nursing week. It was developed by the International Council of Nurses (ICN). According to ICN, A Voice to Lead reflects the fact that “every nurse has a story and every story has the potential to improve the health system and enable individuals and communities to achieve their highest attainable standard of health. From these insights comes the power for change.” Health for All means “not just the availability of health services, but a complete state of physical and mental health that enables a person to lead a socially and economically productive life."

At the Association we embrace this theme wholeheartedly. Now is our time to bring the nursing voice to the forefront to advance our profession and the health of the people living in Manitoba. I hope during this week you take a moment to recognize how much you and your colleagues are contributing and be proud of what you do for our communities.

Happy nursing week.

- Jennifer Dunsford, president

This year’s Nursing Week theme has been the driving force behind the Association from the beginning. As the professional voice of registered nurses, it is our vision to share the message Nurses: A voice to lead – health for all. As the executive director, I’m proud to work with our members, board and staff to make this a reality and influence the future of nursing. Together, we are advancing our profession and health.

We are making history.
