Association expands membership; updates name
At the Annual General Meeting on April 8, members overwhelmingly approved the bylaw amendments to expand the Association’s membership structure to include all regulated nurses - licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses - to promote intra-professional collaboration and strengthen the professional voice of nursing.
As a result, we are proud to share that our name is now the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba.
This is truly a historic moment in Manitoba during a year that is already unforgettable. January kicked off the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife bringing global attention to our profession. This attention quickly pivoted to focus on the incredible efforts of nurses at the forefront of a global pandemic, which has both demonstrated how important each and every nurse is and unified us as one.
That’s how we envision the new version of the Association. Nurses represented as one unified voice to advance the nursing profession and contribute our expertise for the health of all.
Together, we will reimagine the Association to represent and meet the needs of all designations. In the coming months we will work with all members to determine what this looks like. This is an association created by nurses for nurses. We look forward to continuing this tradition to become an association created by all nurses for all nurses.
