2021 Elections

Call for Nominations for the Board of Directors 

The Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba represents licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, nursing students, graduate nurses and former nurses in Manitoba. We support nurses to be empowered health leaders across all settings to advance nursing and advocate for the public they serve. We promote and celebrate excellence in nursing. 

The Association will hold elections in spring 2021 for a president-elect, two seats on the board of directors and a public representative. We are seeking dynamic, committed individuals interested in supporting nurses and furthering the profession of nursing..  
 

As an organization representing nurses, we hope to have representation from all designations and encourage licensed practical nurses and registered psychiatric nurses to put their names forward for nomination.

Nominations must be submitted by 4:30 pm on February 11, 2021. 

Positions

The board of directors is accountable for the Association’s performance in relation to its mission and strategic objectives and for the leadership of the Association. The Association mission, vision, values and strategic goals can be found here.

President-elect
The Association is looking for a president-elect. If you have a knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues related to nursing practice and are looking for a leadership opportunity, this might be for you. A position description for the president-elect can be found here and a position description detailing the primary duties and qualifications of the president can be found here.

Nominees for the president-elect must be members of the Association and if currently practising, registered (with no limitations on practice) with the applicable college.

Board director
The Association is looking for two board members. If you have a knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues related to nursing practice in our complex and ever-changing healthcare system, this opportunity might be for you. A position description detailing the primary duties and qualifications of board members is available here

Nominees for the board must be members of the Association and if currently practising, registered (with no limitations on practice) with the applicable college.

Public representative
The Association is looking for one member of the community to join the board as a public representative. A position description detailing the primary duties and qualifications of public representatives is available here.

Community members with an indigenous perspective are encouraged to put their name forward.

If you are interested in putting your name forward for nomination, please click the link below to complete the online application. For the application you will need:

  • Statement of Intent
  • Resume/Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Photo
  • Letters of support and contact information from two nominators

Next Steps

Once the nomination period closes all nominations will be reviewed by the governance committee. This review will include:

  • Confirmation call with each nominee
  • Evaluation of submissions
  • Confirmation of Association membership (excluding public representative nominees)
  • Confirmation of registration (with no limitations on practice) with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (excluding public representative nominees)

Elections

Electronic ballots will be sent to Association members on February 24, 2021 and remain open for one month, closing on March 24, 2021.

Successful candidates will be contacted, and results will be announced on the Association website by April 8. New board directors will take office at the beginning of May.
